This line of timpani sticks is based on general European approaches to timpani stick making. These sticks are designed to provide a rounded and warm timpani tone on both synthetic and natural heads. E-2 through E-4 are the original models and were inspired by Andrew Simco, former timpanist of the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra. More recently, the E-1 model was requested by Raynor Caroll, Principal Percussionist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. The E-1 worked so well in combination with the other three pairs that it has now become a permanent part of the Euro Line.
The Euro model sticks are made on ca. ½” diameter by 15” straight bamboo handles with a single sanded middle node and have a light polyurethane finish. Length is customizable between 14 ½” and 15” at no added charge. Each pair is color-coded at the base of the head, but, at no additional cost this can be moved to the butt end of the stick to make them instantly identifiable if you use a stick tray. The color coding also can be omitted altogether. Please note that the Euro Line heads also can be mounted on wood or carbon fiber handles and can be supplied with 6” long molded rubber grips at additional cost. Please see the Prices link for costs and options.
